The  third in a series of photos of business firms. Series title "Business firms".

Description: Paster Hans Madsen Ries (1860-1928) came to Dannevirke as part of the Lutheran Church in the 1890s. After serious damage to the church by a forest fire he set himself up a vehicle and harness  business to support himself. The shop was set up in northern Dannevirke, and would later include branches in Norsewood and Feilding.He also later helped establish the Norsewood dairy industry, he would eventually go on to ba a 5 time mayor of Dannevirke and make a name for himself in many forms of community service including Education, Charitale aid and Hospital Boards. The photo itself is of a corner of the shop and includes various horse drawn transport and agricultural machinery.
