Cecil John Souness.


Gunner Cecil Souness was the son of Mrs R.T. Souness, South Norsewood, Tararua, New Zealand.

He was accidentally killed (bursting of bomb) while on active service in Belgium, in July 1917, and is buried at Longuenesse (St Omer) Souvenir Cemetery, Pas-de-Calais, France. He is listed on the Norsewood War Memorial.

NOTE: His brothers, Neil, and Christopher James, also served in World War 1. Neil was killed in October 1917.
